Cool Kids Room Ideas
Who said that Kids rooms had to look like Walt Disney himself threw up all over the walls? While I don’t think that parents should discourage the creative outlet of kids, I don’t believe that rooms have to be completely covered and “young” looking either.
Here are a few websites that I found that really have some great Kid’s room ideas:
- DigsDigs.com – This page has a handful of AWESOME kids rooms. Let creativity reign!!

Lemongrass and Eucalyptus Candle from Target
As we quickly approach a change in the seasons, it occurred to me that all of my candles are currently carrying the “light, fruity scents” of summer. We all know the usual smells of the seasons like pumpkin for Thanksgiving, cinnamon for Christmas, etc.
I think there is room for some new “scents” to work their way into your home. I happen to LOVE the smell of Lemongrass. Surprisingly, there are a few companies that make lemongrass candles.
I happened to find this one at Target. I think I need to make my weekly Target run and pick a few up!
What is your favorite candle smell?

Decorative Tape by TapeSwell
Are giving beautifully wrapped gifts have the fun at Christmas or Birthdays? It is for me! This year for Christmas, I am thinking of wrapping all of the gifts in black and silver.
What could make a gift even more great looking? Cool tape, of course! These Modern decorative tape rolls by TapeSwell are just what the doctor ordered for the boring roll of Scotts!
A little on the pricy end at $7.50 a roll these cool designs could totally be used to jazz up that gift.
Alternatively, you can always do like my Great-Grandmother did. She wrapped all of her gifts in duct tape. Nothing like a big silver wrapped box to say “Merry Christmas and good luck opening it!”

Candle Carver
I stumbled across this great little invention while playing on one of my favorite source websites. This gadget allows you to make a tea light candle holder out of your food.
I can just imagine a beautiful table centerpiece for Thanksgiving or Christmas using this little gadget. You can use mini pumpkins, squash, apples, pears, whatever you feel like digging into!
It is only $9.99 and it would be an easy way to spice up your table this holiday season! Get your Candle Carver here.

Palo Samko Bar Stools
While making a list of my kitchen remodel must-haves, I started contemplating the addition of a bar or eat in area. Let me just say… this kitchen remodel is FAR down the road. The kitchen in this house is ok for now – we have other fish to fry.
Anyway, back on task.
These bar stools by Palo Samko are enough to make me stop and stare. I must say, I am infatuated with this beautiful seating. I am not sure if I could even sit on them. Yes, I like them that much. In fact, I had a look at his website, www.palosamko.com, and I actually love much of his collection.
Unfortunately, you have to request a custom quote. Not that it means the end of the world, it just means I may have a VERY hard time convincing my husband that these stools are as cool as I say they are.
What do you think?

With a baby on the way, Laura and I have started the task of decorating the baby’s nursery.
We’re expecting a girl, but aren’t wanting the nursery to be to be too “girly.” Neither of us care too much for pastels, and we both think pink and blue are used way too much in kids’ rooms. Finally, we have a somewhat simplistic style, so the “themed” nursery look really isn’t too appealing to us either.
Initially, I didn’t think our preferences were all that unusual. However, during our planning phase, we scoured the Internet from top to bottom, looking for nursery decorating inspiration. Apparently, non-pastel, non-themed, simplistic decorating is something that just doesn’t exist much in nurseries.
We did finally luck up on a couple resources that had some pictures that actually inspired us. We’ve taken that inspiration, created our own game plan, and are currently working on our own, original nursery design. I’ll post pictures as soon as the nursery is complete.
Meanwhile, you can check out the following websites, which offer some tasteful nursery decorating inspiration:
