Lemongrass and Eucalyptus Candle from Target
As we quickly approach a change in the seasons, it occurred to me that all of my candles are currently carrying the “light, fruity scents” of summer. We all know the usual smells of the seasons like pumpkin for Thanksgiving, cinnamon for Christmas, etc.
I think there is room for some new “scents” to work their way into your home. I happen to LOVE the smell of Lemongrass. Surprisingly, there are a few companies that make lemongrass candles.
I happened to find this one at Target. I think I need to make my weekly Target run and pick a few up!
What is your favorite candle smell?

Bento Box Lunch Box from Laptoplunches.com
Back to school season is here. I think I just heard a hallelujah chorus from neighboring Mom’s as the school bus pulled away. Their backpack is full of supplies and their lunch box is full of throw away ziplock bags.
What if you had a greener (and healthier way) to be sure your little ones tummy was full at lunch? Checkout these Bento Box inspired lunch boxes from LaptopLunches.com.
According to their website:
Laptop Lunches are American-style bento boxes designed to help families pack nutritious, environment-friendly lunches for school, work, and travel. Our sustainable lunch containers–which come with a book of healthy lunch ideas and lunch making recipes–are reusable, recyclable, and dishwasher safe. Our lunchboxes, recently featured in both Parents and O Magazine, do not contain phthalates, bisphenol A (BPA), or lead.

Decorative Tape by TapeSwell
Are giving beautifully wrapped gifts have the fun at Christmas or Birthdays? It is for me! This year for Christmas, I am thinking of wrapping all of the gifts in black and silver.
What could make a gift even more great looking? Cool tape, of course! These Modern decorative tape rolls by TapeSwell are just what the doctor ordered for the boring roll of Scotts!
A little on the pricy end at $7.50 a roll these cool designs could totally be used to jazz up that gift.
Alternatively, you can always do like my Great-Grandmother did. She wrapped all of her gifts in duct tape. Nothing like a big silver wrapped box to say “Merry Christmas and good luck opening it!”

DIY Flower Arrangement
I know, I know. Long time, no blog. Go ahead and slap my wrist!
The good news is that I have found some pretty cool stuff while wasting hours upon hours on the Internet. This little DIY beauty caught my eye just now.
This is a centerpiece that I found on a website while searching for instructions on how to tie a bow. I think if my energy will keep up, I am going to try to make one of these myself for my Thanksgiving table decor. It is super festive and it looks fairly easy!
You can purchase your ribbon here.

Insulated Ice Cream Container
Last weekend, Laura made some of the best homemade ice cream that I’ve ever tasted. It tasted great and had the perfect consistency. Honestly, I think it was heaven sent.
I’ll try to get her to post the recipe here soon.
Meanwhile, I’ve found a cool insulated ice cream container. It would be absolutely perfect for taking some of that great homemade ice cream on a picnic!
It costs $12.95 at spoonsisters.com

See below for descriptions.
#1 – Via: Better Living Through Design. The Modo Chandelier by Jason Miller. This is by far the most expensive light in this collection. At $8400, this one won’t likely find its way into my house any time soon. The price, however, doesn’t discount the fact that it is very cool. If you’ve got the bankroll, you can get yours here.
#2 – Via: Freshome. This Ociu Light from Zava is a monster, at nearly 73 inches in diameter! Visit Zava’s website to find a distributor near you.
#3 – Via: Freshome. Okay … so maybe this one isn’t really all that hip. However, it is definitely funny! Your friends will surely crack up when the have to turn this lamp on using, you guessed it, his little appendage. Unfortunately, it appears that the site that originally sold these is gone. If anyone knows were they can now be purchased, we’d love for you to post a comment letting us know!
#4 – Via: Young House Love. If you liked #1, but hated the price tag, perhaps this is a better alternative. It still has the chic look, at a fraction of the cost. You can get one here, for £225. (If you’re in the US, you might be able to utilize my good friend Google, to turn up a domestic distributor of this light.)
#5 – Via: Remodelista. Mercury Honeycomb Pendant from Peddlers.

Bad Ass Designer Fire Extinguishers
Any of you that know me, probably know that I’m a firefighter. As such, I really dig pretty much anything that’s fire related. I love firehouse, turnout gear, fire extinguishers, etc. However, firefighting gear is seldom attractive, and almost never qualifies as hip – until now!
These fire extinguishers are bad ass! No more does a fire extinguisher need to be hidden, out of sight. These things look so cool, that they deserve front and center placement, right in the middle of the living room!
Okay, so it might be a stretch to think that Laura would allow me to put one of these in the middle of the living room. However, I’m pretty sure that she’d be okay with it residing somewhere prominent in the office!
Unfortunately, they’re only selling in France right now. However, I’ve got my fingers crossed that they come across the pond soon!

If you are a creative person you probably have past many walls, train cars, and the like and fought back the urge to go crazy. There are some really talented artist that got their start painting on the side of boxcars. You can even view some of the better graffiti art on numerous websites – like this one.
However, if you are like me, a threat of prosecution for trespassing and defacing property was enough to keep me away from the spray paint.
There is hope for your inner rebel though! Check out this Graffiti Set. It gives you 160 pages worth of “blank urban wall” images for you to release your inner vandal. Go crazy – and don’t worry about getting caught. Unless you want to!
